What’s the word of the month?  Hope.

Instead of disaster in Haiti, I see hope.  A friend working on the field labors to send a video clip that is so compelling,  she’s willing to baby-sit her intermittent e-mail connection for 20 minutes to send it. The brief clip shows FH staff-in-training learning Christian children’s songs, so they can lift up the souls of kids who’ve lived through one of the world’s worst disasters.  The new staff are joyful, boisterous, clearly loving the Lord with all their being. (By next month I should be able to show you the completed video!) I have hope for Haiti. Read the rest of this entry »

Max the dog
Thanksgiving: Rather than showing the typical Thanksgiving meal table, I give you Max the Dog, my brother’s puppy-at-heart, with a dog’s version of a celebratory feast. Max of course is fresh out of real prey — he would probably try to hug a bunny if he saw one on a walk. But he does appear to enjoy tearing the stuffing out of the chew toys with which he frequently surrounds himself when he’s relaxing.

News and celebrations

Stories:  Our wonderful worldwide Child Development Program team added at least 50 stories to FH’s story data base this month, and I love just reading their sagas of triumph. Every day I hear something that stops me short and either makes me praise God for his mercy and power, or helps me realize how fortunate I really am.   Read the rest of this entry »
