Pray for Haiti, friends.

One of my pet peeves about disaster relief is how we as media-consumers measure the severity or importance of the event by the death toll.  In my disaster communications days, I would keep charts of how many people had died according to various governments, media agencies, and UN offices.  I felt like the Queen of the Death Toll.  But people would ask, “Is this worse than Disaster X two years back?”  And the death toll was the readily-available measure.
