Out there

One of my favorite Sunday afternoon pastimes is getting on my bike and riding one of the myriad bike trails in the neighborhood.  Yes, it’s good exercise.  Yes, I like the rush of the wind that reminds me of my younger days, when I biked everywhere and anywhere.

I also find that I learn so much more about my community on the bike, especially compared to what I find while driving in a car.  I did not know that I live several blocks from a residential mental health center for teenagers.  I found out someone is raising goats two streets down.  A school parking lot nearby has a recycling bin where I can take my leftover newspapers. And that’s just on one Sunday.
